The Third Wave is a road map for volunteering. In a world of increasing natural and man made disasters: EVERYONE IS NEEDED!
Immediately following the 2004 tsunami disaster, Alison and Oscar race to Sri Lanka with little money or experience planning to volunteer for two weeks. Along the way, they meet up with two other volunteers - Donny and Bruce. Together they find themselves running a refugee camp for over a year. The villagers slowly turn against them as the world’s donated aid money never materializes. To survive they break every rule in the disaster aid books and a village is reborn.
Presented By Sean Penn and Executive Produced by Morgan Spurlock and Joe Amodei, The Third Wave screened at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival during the Presidential Jury Screening with special guests Bono, Michael Moore and Petra Nemcova. The film has been selected in over 20 leading film festivals around the world including Tribeca, Sydney, Tokyo, City of Angels, Denver, Iran, the United Nations and the Windrider film forum in Colorado, Los Angeles and Toronto.
100% of the Box Office Proceeds will be donated to the Community Tsunami Early-warning Center in Sri Lanka.
